BuBu was a huge part of our lives.
BuBu was born on August 8th, 2013, in Honolulu, Hawaii — a tiny ball of fur with sparkling eyes and a heart so full of love. Her father was a dog show champion, and from the moment I first held her — just eight weeks old — my hands trembled. She was so tiny, so delicate, and I was a first-time dog mom. That moment changed everything. From that day forward, she became our world — our little baby bear, our family’s heartbeat.
When our son was born, BuBu welcomed him in her own way — protective, curious, and sometimes adorably jealous. But soon, they became inseparable play buddies. She taught him gentleness, patience, and what unconditional love looks like. She wasn’t just our pet; she was our teacher, our family, and our joy.
We took BuBu everywhere — literally everywhere. Restaurants, parks, offices, friends’ houses, even doctors’ appointments. Everywhere she went, she drew people in. Strangers would gather, wanting to pet her or take photos. She loved it — she lived for attention. She knew when eyes were on her, and she’d wag her fluffy tail proudly as if to say, “Yes, I know I’m adorable, pad me !.”
BuBu had her favorites — she loved her chicken jerky more than anything in the world. She was a picky eater, so yes, I cooked for her every day. In truth, she trained me, not the other way around. She hated hard floors, so in our Honolulu home, we padded the entire floor with rubber mats just for her and our son. After moving to Irvine, since we didn’t have them, I often carried her around instead — she got used to being in my arms.
Evenings were her favorite. As the sun went down and the air cooled, she loved walking around the neighborhood, tail high, proudly leading the way. And oh — how she loved shopping. Whenever I asked, “You want to go shopping?” she’d jump right into her little doggy bag, ready to go. She and my son would playfully compete for our attention, and we’d always say, “Wait, let’s take care of BuBu first.” She was the perfect paw-sibling — gentle, patient, and full of love.
I never once took her to a grooming shop. For 11 years, I groomed her myself — trimming her fur, clipping her nails, brushing her soft coat while she sat calmly on my lap. She’d always fall asleep while I worked on her, breathing softly, completely at peace. Those quiet moments were our little rituals — soothing, loving, ours.
BuBu truly loved her life — every walk, every cuddle, every moment surrounded by her family. She gave and received love endlessly, and she made every day brighter, softer, and fuller.
Until one day...... 💛
